About the Interns
Chelsea Wagner and Natasha Hegmann are the 2010 Carlson Seeds Interns. Both are juniors at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Chelsea is a Women’s Studies and American Studies major; Natasha is a Spanish major. This summer we will be working on 50 acres of land outside of Northfield. Our goals as interns are to learn more about growing food in a sustainable manner and to contribute to discussion, growth and awareness in the Northfield food community.
More specifically, this summer we plan to concentrate on laying down the infrastructure and making personal connections that will allow for future growth. For us, this means conditioning the soil, building structures for shade and to house our tools, attending Northfield community meetings, planning educational outreach programs, guiding the creation of a Community Farm, and growing vegetables to sell at farmer’s markets and to St. Olaf’s food service provider, Bon Appetit. We also hope to collaborate with some of the other groups who will be using the land to realize their own beekeeping, permaculture, and free range chicken projects.

What an awesome project to work on. I look forward to future updates and pictures. Let us know if you need volunteers to help out on the farm this summer! Best of Luck!
Wow, you guys are awesome! Good luck with all you have going on. Again, if you need volunteers, just ask.
